Why favour the lesser-known
Several reasons. Crowds: 5-10× less than Chambord or Chenonceau. Authenticity: often lived-in or barely museified. Price: €6-13 vs €16-18 for the major sites. Personnel: often passionate guides, sometimes owners. And the privileged feeling of being in confidential territory — not the same-angle selfie as 500 people daily. Ideal for 2nd or 3rd stays in the region, or for couples who've done the classics.
